User Manual

Introduction

  1. Purpose:

This user manual provides guidance on how to use the Ethiopian Women’s Rights Advocate (EWRA) system effectively. It aims to ensure a smooth user experience while interacting with the system’s frontend, backend, and Android mobile app.

  1. System Overview:

The EWRA system is designed to collect data on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Ethiopia. It consists of a frontend (website) accessible to the public, a backend (admin panel) for system administrators, and an Android mobile app for mobile users.

Frontend (Website):

To access the system’s frontend (website), open a web browser and enter the URL ewraet.org 0r www.ewraet.org.

  1. Backend (Admin Panel):

System administrators can access the backend admin panel by entering the designated admin.ewraet.org in a web browser and logging in with their credentials.

  1. Android Mobile App:

Install the Ethiopian Women’s Rights Advocate (EWRA) mobile app from the Google Play Store and follow the on-screen instructions to set it up. Before opening the data collectors must allow location permission. Follow this steps

Steps to allow location permission:

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Android device.

Step 2: Scroll down and find the “Apps” or “Applications” option and tap on it.

Step 3:  Locate and tap on the name of the app for which you want to enable location permissions.

Step 4:  Within the app’s settings, look for the “Permissions” or “App Permissions” option and tap on it.

Step 5: Find the “Location” or “Location Services” option and tap on it.

Step 6:  Depending on your Android version, you may see different options such as “Allow all the time,” “Allow only while using the app,” or “Deny.” Choose the appropriate option based on your preference.

  • “Allow all the time” grants the app continuous access to your device’s location, even when the app is not actively being used.
  • “Allow only while using the app” allows the app to access location information only when the app is open and in use.
  • “Deny” restricts the app from accessing your location. (Not recommended)

Step 7:  After selecting the desired option, you can exit the settings.

Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to log in.

Data Collector registration and login:

System administrators (Super Admin) create data collector accounts for data collectors through the backend admin panel. Data collectors can then log in to the mobile app using the credentials provided by the System administrators (Super Admin).

  1. Data Collection:

Data collectors can use the app to collect data on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) from various sources within Ethiopia. The app provides forms and fields to input relevant information about reported incidents.

  1. Offline Data Collection:

The app allows data collectors to collect data even in offline mode. They can enter the data offline, and once an internet connection is available, the app synchronizes the data with the server.

  1. Data Submission:

Data collectors can submit the collected data securely to the server for further analysis and processing.

  1. Real-Time Data Validation:

The app performs real-time validation of the entered data to ensure accuracy and completeness, reducing errors during data collection.

  1. Data Sync and Backup:

The app syncs and backs up the collected data to prevent data loss and provide data redundancy.

  1. Data Privacy and Security:

The app ensures the privacy and security of collected data, employing encryption and other security measures to protect sensitive information.

  1. Help and Support:

The app provides access to help resources, including FAQs and support contact information, to assist data collectors with any questions or issues they may encounter.
